Re: Siemens SK65. Don't Buy It. What Tandy and DSE Don't Tell You

    Firstly,
The phone was available from Optus retailers at that price long before
DSE got it for their boxing day sale.
    Secondly,
The reason the phone is so cheap, is because it was a failed blackberry
model, that is also why it was quickly discontinued. Optus also
subsidises it heavilly because it can recoup a lot of the cost on the
    services you use on it.
    Thirdly,
The stated standby time (250hrs) is in abolutely perfect conditions
assuming you have bluetooth and all the other features switched off and
keep it in standby. You can't possibly expect a phone with all these
features to last past a day or two if you actually use it.
    Fourthly,
Don't you find it a little suspicious that a phone that retailes at
nearly $800 is being sold for $129?

    Thats my rant

It is a bargain. Optus subsidises the cost and your getting a
    blackberry for $129.

I just picked up the SK65 the other day, and it's not a bad phone; it certainly looks good and the keyboard is great for typing txts.

Connecting to Windows XP PCs seems to be a problem. Almost every time I connect using the USB cable and transfer/delete data Windows Explorer crashes out. Could be a buggy driver, or the MPM software - I don't know.

Getting a phone holster case for this thing is a difficult, since phone cases are made for those tiny phones everyone seems to like these days (I'm a bit old-fashioned

Despite the negatives, the price is really good and it's waayyy better than the Sony Z200 I was stuck with for months.

Ah it's okay. The problem is not exiting and directories on the phone BEFORE closing the Phone Explorer window.
