Hi,
Just wondering what a PUK is? I've read about them in phone manuals but have
no idea what it is or what it's for.

If you have a PIN set on you SIM card you have 3 chances to get it right
before the card is locked. You then have to enter the PUK code to
restore the SIM card, you have 10 attempts before the SIM card is wiped
and becomes useless.
If you do not have a copy of your PUK code you will have to contact your
service provider.

Damn!
I was going to say that PUK is a special code word you are allowed to
say when your phone craps out on you at the most inopportune moment.
...Sort of a special pass to say 'PUK!'
...well, I thort it was funny, anyway.......sigh.

Re: what is PUK? And how do I use it?
So you really don't want to know what it is.
PUK code requests are free from your provider, but as Simon says don't get
it wrong 10 times as my mum did with a good number I got her. Telstra then
wanted $30 for another sim.

Re: what is PUK? And how do I use it?
Yeah so to get the number back on another sim it was $30 or to get a new
number with a new sim it was free.
This was bout 4 years ago.
