Any of you guys using the Nokia PC Suite?

I might be able to get my hands on a geniune Nokia DKU-2 or 5 cable for
a reasonable price. I was wondering what the latest version of the
software is like, what functionality it has, etc..

When we last tried it, about 18 months ago, we couldn't get it to
recognise multiple numbers for a single contact (eg: Fred's home, mobile
and office numbers in the one record). It also wasn't that easy to use.

Back then we tried it on a 6230. We also had problems with a borrowed
DKU cable not being recognised by the software or the PC. (can't
remember which - it was sourced via Ebay from Hong Kong, too).

Also, anyone used thos Oxygen Nokia phone manager that that keeps
    flogging in here?

The latest version of Nokia PC Suite that I am aware of and use is
6.70.22 It still does not appear to save all the contact details,
although it does save some phone numbers for each contact. It's a shame
you can't back up your contacts to Mozilla Thunderbird.

I personally make more use of Oxygen Phone Manager and very happy with
it. They release regular updates and have included some features I have
requested, customer support once you have registered is very good. I
even managed to negotiate a discount on registering because I argued
that it was too expensive, they actually made available several
discounted registrations on another Newsgroup for myself and others to
    take up at the time.

What I like is that it is a self contained package that does not require
Outlook or Outlook Express to back your contacts and calendar details.

Good luck in what ever package you decide to use.

And it STILL won't sync recurring appointments in Outlook.

Me neither. I don't use those packages.

What I would like is the ability to exchange data between my Palm
Desktop software and the mobile phone. The PDA's contacts under
"personal" is a duplicate of my mobile phone's contact list.
Unfortunately, I've had to manually duplicate them as there is no way to
    sync. the two.

When I bought a Nokia 6385 CDMA it had IR so I was able to copy the
Palm's address book into the Nokia, then tidy it up. The whole exercise
    took about 10 mins.

Then unfortunately I drowned the phone. Nokia said it was uneconomical
to repair And dickwads on Ebay were flogging them for upwards of $600.
Or rather, the dickwads were the people bidding up to that much. So I
ended up with a $200 2280, but without the IR connectivity. That meant a
tedious manual re-entry of all my contacts into the new phone.

Thanks. May go with the Oxygen software if it can duplicate all my phone
    book records.
