As they change every 5 mins i figured would ask the question

Have a mate arriving for canada for a 12 moths stay

    essentials

    sms to and from canada

calls to canada would be good but not essential as can
get a prepaid card but easier if can be done from mobile
as not that many phone boxes around now and a hassle of the phone card

    thanks

That basically means that dodo or virgin message monster seem
to be one of the best around, with SMS at 9.5c and 10c respectively.

The dodo rates to canada are pretty decent.
The **** doesnt appear to support international calls on prepaid.

Yeah, didnt read that carfully enough. The stupid ****wits have
the international call rates off the prepaid page, presumably
they use the same rate table for both prepaid and post paid.

Yeah, I havent noticed anyone much that doesnt allow international sms.

Turns out that they are available. Its just the HALF PRICE PROMOTION
that isnt available for international calls, in other words you pay the rates
    listed in the rate table.

Bugger, making one hell of a hash of this, that 9.5c rate for SMS
is only available during the half price promotion, and that doesnt
cover the full year your canuck will be wanting to do them. They
stop in Oct-06 unless extended later in the year.

just hate having to try and decipher em all , just to hard to work it all
    out
    as you have found already

    thanks for the help
