20 seconds would be very unlikely but 10 or so seconds I have seen before
(still uncommon). On average Optus should take slightly longer to page a
particular subscriber because they use the maximum PRP interval (trade off
is greater PCH capacity & improved battery life for the subscriber).

The call has to go through the prepaid server first, that may certainly add
to the delay but 20 secs is a bit too much

    Hi,

Seems as if no one has offered you a real solution... so here is one.

Step 1. Buy a telstra prepaid plus handset
Step 2. Buy a "Coke Live 06" sim starter kit
(Steps 1 and 2 can be combined by buying a coke live v3)
Step 3. Set up the phone as per the instructions in the starter kit
Step 4. Nominate your friends number as one of the telstra numbers you
    wante to call
Step 5. Make sure u don't exceed 2500 minutes per month, but otherwise,
stay on the phone for as long as you want.

    Enjoy.

Sorry for all the details, just thought you may want a complete
    solution.
