The missus has just bought a Nokia 6233 to replace her ailing Nokia
6310. So far, the phone seems to be performing OK. However, one issue
that we can't resolve is the screen's backlight.

When it's not in use the screen darkens. If you press a button it comes
back on. However, pressing that button activates a function or menu or
whatever. When exploring the phone's features, if you're reading
something, the like goes out and you have to press something to turn it
back on. I can't find the setting that allows the light to stay on
longer. It goes off after a few seconds, which really isn't that flash,
particularly if you're reading online content.

If anyone knows how to extend the time that the light stays on, could
you please advise? We've turned off the auto-standby and power saver
options, to see if that did it, but it didn't.

    Thanks

    Press the Red key instead

Perhaps. But it doesn't help with the problem - getting the backlight to
    stay on longer...

This is the only thing that I dislike about color screens. They go dark
when inactive, and the contents of the screen cannot be viewed without
the light. It has a clock that's nigh on impossible to read when in
standby mode. Might as well not have anything on display.

Then there's the difficulty in reading menu options/text when you have a
wallpaper assigned. You have to be careful with what you decide to use,
so as to maximise the screen's clarity.

The Nokia 6310 that this new phone has replaced was worse.

The reason the light turns off is so you don't complain about the
battery going flat after 24 hours of standby.

You might be able to find a Java application to over-ride it.

    Oh, duh...

I was hoping that there might've been a setting hidden away amongst the
    menus somewhere.

Ive got the 6234 and this annoys me too. I would have thought you would be
able to change the setting to however many seconds you wanted the backlight
to stay on for, but no.

I just updated my new phone to a 6310, no such problems compared with my so
    called new phones.
