When a phone is advertised as having no sim or network locks, does
that mean that it wouldn't have Telstra/Optus/Vodafone software
    loaded? Thanks.

Well it might have Optus "Zoo" on it, or some Voda crap, yes, that is
possible. But from an independent dealer usually none of this nonsense.

As I have asked before, how do I get rid of the Optus Zoo crap?

No, it just means that any sim will work fine in it.

I doubt that you can unless you get the phone reset at a service centre.

Thank you. Does that mean that if you put a Voda sim in it, it will
load the Vodaphone stuff and if at another time, you put an Optus sim
in, it will load their Zoo etc?

No - the branding will be the same - just SIMs from other carriers will
work. My Optus supplied 6320 had the stupid Zoo branding, yet worked
fine with Telstra and Vodafone SIMs.

OK, thanks. I have been reading threads in Whirlpool about people
trying to get rid of the branding that comes with the phone.

Varys with how its implemented. The simpler stuff is on the sim.

The more fancy stuff is flashed into the handset and just changing the sim wont get it.

That sort of crap is usually burnt into the firmware of the handset when
    you buy it.

I changed from Telstra to Optus, no Zoo crap came on my screen, praise
    de Lord!

    That sounds good. Thanks again.

Probably wandering off topic here, but I am hearing impaired and until
a few months ago, I couldn't use a mobile phone. I now have a cochlear
implant and can now use one. I am looking for one with a little bit
louder than normal volume and good clarity of sound. The phone doesn't
have to have all the bells and whistles that are available today,
because most of my use will be calls and text messages. I read a good
review about the LG KG245 in PC World that said:

"The quality of voice calls is excellent, and these can be turned up
to extremely loud volumes using the dedicated switch on the side of
the unit. A hands-free speakerphone is also included, but the volume
of the standard speaker is so loud it almost isn't required! We also
found the phone comfortable to hold with good microphone and speaker
    positioning."

    http://tinyurl.com/ymzzto

Those are the kinds of things I look for in a phone review, because it
indicated that it might be a good one for me and its also in the right
    price range.

I would appreciate anyone tossing suggestions out here please, as
regards the best phone that you have ever used for loud volume and
also clarity of sound. I know that a lot of phones have a volume
control, if it was say marked from 1-10 and you use it on 4, its
probably a beauty for me :-). When I say loud volume, I mean through
the handset, not with the Speakerphone function operational, I know
    that will be louder. Thanks.
