Hello
I have a problem trying to use Google maps on a Nokia 6230i connected to
Vodafones prepaid network in perth. Every time I try connect it tells me to
subscribe to gprs first which is strange considering that normal borwsing
works fine (I downloaded google maps via gprs) I have been to both the
vodafone and nokia sites to download the settings for gprs however still no
luck. I heard a rumour that prepaid customers are not able to access full
functionality of GPRS on vodafone prepaid? Is this correct?
Any help would be great as this is quite frustrating.

Yep, pre-pay Vodafone is somewhat limited, compared to the data
services available on post-paid accounts.
"Prepay customers will be able to use WAP, PXTâ„¢ and Vodafone Live
services, which are subject to the fair use policy and which use GPRS
technology. However, Prepay customers will not be able to connect to
GPRS Plans and use the other "regular" GPRS services such as described
above."

Depends what you need the maps for... to get around, I find WhereIs
Mobile to be pretty useful.

Well obviously it's no good to him if he can't get access! Personally,
I've got both on my phone.
Google Maps (J2ME app) is great for zooming in/out and scrolling maps,
but I still use WhereIs for directions.

And for street numbers outside the biggest towns, and for the hybrid mode.

Do you have a link to that J2ME app by any chance Giles? Sounds like a
useful tool to go and install on my phone
Cheers,

To download the J2ME app to your mobile, go to the following address on
your handset's WAP browser:
