K800i best camera phone?

Hi,

It's been quite a few years since i've upgraded my phone and I see that
there are phones out now with 3.2 and 4.0 megapixel cameras built in. Seeing
as im upgrading my phone I thought it would be a good idea to get one with a
good camera in it so I have always got a decent quality digital camera on
hand if I need one.

I've been using Nokias for 7 years, have been thinking about changing over
to Sony Ericcson. It looks to be that the K800i is probably the best phone
to go for. Does anybody have one of these and can recommend this or a better
camera phone?

Some of the Nokia N series leave that for dead camera wise.

"Decent" is probably being a little bit kind if you're vaguely interested
in photo quality; the megapixels mean little when you're dealing with a
pea-sized sensor and a plastic lens.

You cannot cram that many megapixels into a sensor that's smaller than the
ones in the tiniest of stand-alone digicams and not expect to see either
sensor noise or, more likely in the SE phones, nasty "smearing" from the
massive noise reduction that has to be applied to make the phone's pictures
look vaguely normal.

If you are just wanting to take the occasional happy-snap, go for it. But
otherwise, keep a real digital camera on hand, separate from your phone.
Compact digicams are seriously cheap now, and the quality you get from the
lowest-end Canon or Sony will leave any of the camera phones for dead.

Be wary - great phone, but it's been proven to be extremely failure-prone.
The K810 might be a better bet; the K850 is on the way but the biggest
"improvement" seems to be a *5* megapixel camera (sigh).

Nokia N95 has 5 megapixel but quite frankly Anthony is right, if you
want half-way decent photos you are better off with a proper digital
camera.
