There are two issues preventing the iFlop from being used on the 3
Network. The first being the fact that the iFlop is a GSM only phone.
The second issue is that Apple apparently lock the iFlop down to only
allow them to work with carriers they have signed agreements with.
Move along everyone, nothing to see here. The iFlop is a waste of time!

Fair enough, they might have hacked them to work on GSM, but they won't
be getting them to work on the 3 Network.

Actually a lot less.
Generally outdated technology, usual Apple stunt, release the crap
first, build up the excitement in the punter, then sell them again in
the upgrade.

It does have some rather interesting approaches with the user interface.
And some very significant limitations too, quite apart from the carrier agreements.

The main area where its quite different is in the user interface.
Even to the extent of a G sensor that works out when you have rotated
the device and automatically changes the screen content orientation etc.

cats have long been doing that automatically anyway Rod.
I don't understand why a mobile phone has to be more than a phone and a sms
service anyway. We all got along OK before wap, MMS, vidoephone capability,
blah blah... it's a great piece of marketing to have kids spend more than
they have on such a non essential time waster.
as stated, Nothing new here, move along.

They arent that flash for internet access tho.

More fool you. Some of us have noticed the advantage of being able to
use google maps when out and about, and be able to look stuff up when
you thought you knew where some place was and it doesnt turn out to
be there when you rock up there, or want to check the ad that got you
going there, to find out that its next week and not today etc etc etc.
I keep all my lists on the phone now, and can chase up stuff like
the model number of stuff I am hunting down a part for, etc etc etc.
When checking what is available before actually buying it, its a lot more
convenient to take a photo of the item on special etc when prowling around
the stores than it is to write down who is offereing what etc etc etc.

The same stupid claim was made by dinosaurs about mobile
phones, phones, letters, cars, horses, etc etc etc too.

In other countries where 3G has not taken off, the iFlop may well be of
interest to many and no doubt a business success for Apple. However I
can't really see it taking off here in Australia in it's current GSM form.

Just released here in UK where I am at present on O2 network, big yawn
because of outdated technology.
As the USA is generally behind in these matters in any case, sold well
there because what the dummies don't know of, the dummies don't want.

Exactly. Rod still rides an old PMG bike he picked up at an auction, and has
previously claimed that the only use for hi-speed broadband is so "that
farmers can watch hi-speed porn". The old coot is a dinosaur.
