Amber alerts expanding to mobile devices

An Amber Alert could soon be delivered to your cell phone or computer.

The government, OPP and Bell Canada are holding a news conference this morning to make an important community announcement concerning the public safety program.

It was introduced in the province in January 2003.

During an Amber Alert, information about an abducted child, suspects or suspect vehicles is broadcast through electronic highway signs and radio and television bulletins.

Reports say this morning's announcement will unveil a way for you to get the alerts as a text message or through e-mail.
