I just bought the new Black Berry 8330. I wanted to keep mine looking good beacuse my old one got so many scratches on the glossy finish of the back and the screen. So i did some reserach and found Phantomskinz.com, they make invisable patterns for phones that dose not scratch! I bought one online at the website and put it on myself(wich was pretty easy) and i love it. My phone still looks as good as the day i took it out of the box. I highly recomend this product to anyone who wants to keep their device protected and looking new!

I think they would have the pattern for that when it comes out. But yes you go to Phantomskinz.com. Search the iphone 3g or whatever you want. Then order it. The install is pretty easy, You just have to take your time so you do it right. But over all its pretty easy to install.

is it easy to remove if you need to, i.e. it doesn't leave it sticky?

I just bought this Phantom Skinz product, I'll see how good it is. But do you have any suggestion if there is a way to remove the existing scratch other than replacing the faceplate.

    Scratched Lens Options

If there are scratches in the plastic that you can see and feel, there are a few options, but if you are the type in a hurry or can't be bothered to follow step by step directions carefully, then in that case there is nothing you can do other than replacing the screen.

Now you could try one of those car lens/display scratch removers, but you'd have to remove the screen from the housing anyway to do that, in which case you might as well replace it.

Also the process is NOT for anyone that is in a hurry and looking for shortcuts. Some use different grades of sandpaper and a polishing liquid that comes in the plastic restore kit, others use a chemical that "softens" the plastic so it can be polished down to the level of the scratch. And it takes time to do it right without making things worse. Because what you are doing is basically grinding/polishing the plastic down to the level of the scratch. (see told you it was not easy).

    Here is one such option:
    Janvil Plastic Polish/Cleaner & Restorer

Another option would be to find one of those eyeglass scratch fillers. I have used something like Lens Doctor on sun glasses and I could still see the scratch, just looks like it has something (like clear nail polish) in it when it dries. But when I paint the entire lens with it, it looked passable. Works a little like those windshield crack fillers, even filled you still see where the crack is, and anyone that did not know it was cracked will still notice it.

    here is one such option:
    Lens Doctor

So save up you pennies and buy a screen replacement or pay a dealer to change it out for you (may be roughly 20 bucks if you already have the lens).

And if you buy one of the removable screen protectors, you can take it off and put it back on later when you do get the new lens.

WARNING use of products like those mentioned in this post, may void your warranty, use at your own risk.

Read the FAQ on any such products and call the makers of said products to get any questions you may have about them answered.
