Unlocked Blackberry Pearl or Curve?

Hello! I have a question. I currently have a Blackberry Pearl from T-mobile and I am a T-mobile customer. There is a problem with the latch that holds the SIM card in place, and the SIM card keeps shifting, causing me to loose coverage.

I'm looking to get a new blackberry, either a Curve or another Pearl. If I buy an unlocked phone, will my current service plan (Blackberry unlimited internet/email) work for the new phone, or will I need to have T-mobile set up my new phone for my current service plan to work?
