Bluetooth slow to catch on in the U.S.?

Hey, I was wondering why the Bluetooth SIG hasn't taken off in popularity in the states as it has in Europe. I've had a Bluetooth phone for the past two years, and have found it convenient to use. I know when I went to Europe this past summer it seems every cell phone is enabled with it and everyone has it. I dont know why such a good thing has been so slow to catch on in the U.S. I thought we were one of the most advanced countries. What does everyone think the reason for Bluetooth technology not catching on as quickly here is?

I have no idea but I've been waiting for months, my carrier only has one real good BT phone but I cant afford it.
