I'm thinking of getting this curious device, both to avoid cell phone radiation (Bluetooth radiation is miniscule by comparison, if I understand correctly--please correct me if I'm wrong) and because I like the feel of an actual phone receiver on my ear. Has anyone tried it? How'd you like it? I'm curious about both the sound quality and the feel: does it feel as solid and heavy as a real phone receiver? I'm also interested to know about any other similar products on the market. Thanks!

    Re: Thinkgeek Bluetooth Retro Handset

For the last two years, I've used the Thinkgeek cord/plug in Retro Handset ... I loved it!

My hearing is impaired (ringing). The larger receiver makes it much easier to hear through small cell phones. There is a big difference.

Additionally, the larger receiver allows for hands-free conversing, so you can double-task. Cell phone can be in pocket, or nearby table; you can hold larger receiver with shoulder; you can be using the computer, or balancing your checkbook, or whatever task lies in wait.

It's not as heavy as the old Bell Telephone receivers, but definitely does compare to weight of phones made in the last twenty years.

Alas, the larger receiver has stopped working this week. I am now going to buy the Bluetooth model ... no cords this time. Hoping I like it as much as the previous model!

No hesitation in recommending this product to anyone! Not expensive and has been a huge asset in my life. Love it!
