good thread for me to give my opinion on. i currently picked up a 05' MB C320 sport in March 05'. traded in my 02' BMW 330 coupe. i'm 27 years old and prefer more of a sporty car with good handling. what really made me get the benz, was the AMG bodykit and nice wheels on the benz. however, the bmw felt more solid, performed better, handled better and was just a blast to drive every single day. i feel 20 years older now in benz. too soft, sloppy suspension, abit heavy and sluggish, and just boring. a nice cruising car, but that's about it. i really wish i had waited for the new 330's to be released or even coughed up the dough for the M3. my cousin has an 04' M3 and it really is an amazing car. just my .02

    Re: BMW or Mercedes-Benz?

Personally, I would prefer to have a fully restored 68 Camaro...lol
However, what astounds me is that supposedly intelligent people so easily characterize others based on what they drive. There really is no accounting for taste and the size of one's bank account is not an indication of class.
Years ago, I was invited into the home of a couple who lived in a quite modest home situated in a middle class neighborhood with two non descript cars in the driveway. The moment I entered their home, I could immdiately sense money. The possessions and decor inside was an incredible understatement of wealth. BUT...it wasn't the original works of art, the imported wood and marble, nor the upscale furnishings and accessories that impressed me. This couple exuded a genuine spirit of warmth and hospitality underscored by a gracious and unpretentious demeanor. I got the sense that while they enjoyed fine things, they did not let their possessions define who or what they were. Very down-to-earth, compassionate people. On the other hand, I have had interactions with, in the homes of what my late father-in-law called "ten-cent millionaires", who had all the stuff to impress the neighbors and allowed conspicuous consumption to drive them. Many of these folk gave the impression that their time, energy, effort and things were more important than others. Their hospitality was perfunctory and measured.
My point is this...People drive what they drive for many different reasons. Who are you to make judgements about them based four wheels? You made your choice and reasons clear, that's cool. What you may not realize is the glimpse to the content of your character that was revealed as well, and imho, it's not nearly as pretty as the car. No offense, but it IS the impression YOU created. What I have read above as akin to seeing a couple of grown men get into a chest-bumping match as a means of posturing. Just something to think about besides the differences between a BMW and a Mercedes and the energy spent on self-aggrandizment to bolster your opinion. I've said this before: Opinions are like a$$holes, everybody has one. Thank goodness the Creator didn't give us as many of the latter as the former or we would be in deep doo-doo. Smiles.
An exaggerated sense of entitlement is evident when one presumes privileges to be inalienable rights.
Good manners are never in bad taste.
