Even if it is a post build, I have an opinion on that.
I also didn't regard Saturns as much of a "desirable" car back in the day. Then, one day at work, there was one parked out front. I had no idea that it was even a Saturn at the time, but I loved it. Once I figured out what it was, I went and test drove one, and bought it that same weekend. It was a black 5-speed 2002 SC2.
For my purposes, it was a great car. I live in the snow belt, so the FWD was a plus. It looked sharp. It sounded AMAZING - and this was without a muffler. Several people asked me what kind of exhaust I was running, and all of them were shocked when I said it was stock piping with no muffler. Not even a hint of buzz, which is why I left it that way, instead of getting a new muffler. I didn't want to lose that sound to a fartcan muffler! It was easy to modify, which is why I wanted it, and it also took on every civic that came my way with the same mods. The only civic it wouldn't beat was an SI. My buddy had an SI when I had the Saturn, and with the same mods, I had him off the line, but within the 1/8 mile marker, he had caught back up and was slowly inching out front. Pretty impressive, I'd say! The Saturn starts with 124hp, and the SI starts with 160hp, but the Saturn has a ton more torque, which is significant.
So anyway, I could write all day about it - but I think I got my general point across. If you want to see the whole car, go to www.cardomain.com/id/zoomtictac . You can see both the Saturn, and the car that replaced it this past March.

I got a Saturn as a rental car over the holiday weekend and it had trouble going up a 35 degree incline to the mountains... I feel like it's underpowered and pretty cheaply made -- but then again I guess it's at an affordable price point.
Still... would never buy one myself.
