Ok, so this is going to be my first car, just waiting for the preveious owner to get new brakes and fan belt before he sells it to me. It's a beautiful car with the full options (leather seating, heated seats, power everything, sun roof, Bose sound system) I'm getting it at a steal of 1,800.00! But I have a few questions on this car...

Ok, first up I noticed on the shifter there is a button and it has Power Transmission...what is this? I was told it gives you a boost of speed or something.
Are there any sites that have an "owners manual" if you will that tells all about the car, like a history book would, but more in depth (like by the Manufacter should have).
Does anyone else have this car, what have been your problems, and what do you love about the car?

The first part about the car is getting past it somewhat ugly looks, but once you see it in the right light, it's a good looking car. It's very rounded.
But once you get inside, everything changes. You sit in that 6 way adjustable seat with a Lo and Hi heat setting, and you look out of the low cut front window and you see the huge hood that houses that massive V8 engine, and you put that pedal down and feel a graceful fast acceleration that tricks you for how heavy the car looks, it goes fast. And you are trapped! I dunno how to explain it, maybe someone else does!

Power Transmission means that it takes the gears a step back, so instead of shifting at the normal RPM, it waits untill it reaches a higher RPM to shift, giving you more power, like downshifting to pass. It sounds like a nice car, and from my experiences, Oldsmobiles last forever.

Oh, so it basically somewhat of a speed boost, that is cool.

I just got from the bank with the money for the car, getting it tomorrow becuase it's going in tonight for all new brake pads and brake rotors, and a new fan belt (it's screeching) I'm so excited!!! My first car!!!

Doesn't anyone here own one of these?

On a second note, does anyone know of any sites that do reviews on cars, i want to see some in depth road tests and what not of this model.

I wanted an Aurora until I drove one. Totally dissapointed. Way slower than I ever imagined. Seemed cheesy on the inside too. I ended up buying a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI. Totally makes the Aurora look like a toy. YMMV.

    Re: 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora

Well, the engine is prone to problems becuase of an issue in it's construction that leads to blown head gaskets, but then again, almost all Cadillacs had the same design flaw from the time period too, so it's present there too (they are both Northstar Engines, even though the Aurora's is a special version of the engine, they were all built about the same). And the transmission, well that is one of the most bullet proof transmissions from the time period, they are tough and can take quite a beating, I have seen an Aurora with 312,000 miles on the clock, and it started developing problems such as radiator leaks and stuff before the transmission sstarted slipping when it was sold with 367,000 miles on it.

But like any other car, it doesn't matter what kind of engine it has, what kind of transmission, who built it, how old it is, a car is only as good as it's owner.

As far as mine is concerned, she is doing very well and I am so happy that I was able to get the car for only 1800, with all the luxury it has, my friends are still jelous that they paid more for their cars and already one of them is in the junker. I plan on keeping this car for years to come, until it is undriveable. I wanted to sell it while it still had value but realized that it's value to me is way more than what Kelly Blue Book said it was. Here are some pictures of my Aurora, this is from a thread that I make on an annual basis, basically I show the car what it used to look like, from when I bought it, and the pictures progress the car over time to what it looks like now, enjoy, lemme know what you think of her - Aurora Club of North America (ACNA) Forum - My White Cruzer - The ComeBack! (PICTURES!)

In the meantime I got myself a 1967 Cadillac DeVille, and I just love the car. It needs a lot of work (not a whole lot, it still runs and drives really well), but 40+ years does a lot to a car, y'kno? Here are some pictures of the Cadillac - Aurora Club of North America (ACNA) Forum - -Caddy Restoration Project- Need Electrical Help-

The New Iphone Verizon is Here

Until now Verizon was unable to offer iPhone for their client because of their network CDMA. When Apple decide to create a smart phone they close the deal with AT&T and they are using a global system called GSM, a technology more popular worldwide. In a Customer Report study published last month AT&T was ranked as the worst USA carrier because of the numerous problems and complaints about dropping calls and losing signal especially in big cities.

In the meantime Verizon was ranked 2nd best by customer reports study, this and the changes made on the CMDA carrier in the previous years might be the reason why Apple decide to sell the new iPhone trough Verizon Wireless Network.
