Good car for a 16 year old??

Don't worry if you get a cheap car because I guarantee you you'll jack it up a lot the first year or two you drive. Then once you're 18 get a nicer car if you want.

definitely get a cheap car until you turn 18 or so you will probably end up having a few fender benders or something(and you would be surprised how much a little bit of damage cost).

You can never go wrong with a Dodge Charger.

A Ford Taurus is a decent car to start with. They are a lot of car for the price you pay for them. Not to mention, they are VERY reliable. I will admit, the handleing and sound inside the interior is no where near a camry or accord, but why pay 4x the price for a first car. They get acceptable fuel economy, and have a great safty rating. According to a mechanic at our state DOT garage, the taurus and the crown victoria is one of the best for not needing alot of stuff fixed.

I like large cars & trucks myself because the slight cost in fuel over the years I feel is worth my saftey. Just my opinion. You can also pickup used Crown Victoria's, Grand Marquis's, pretty cheap now as they have V8's, and to be truthful, they get the same gas milage as a V6 in most cars.

I hate foriegn cars period. Every one that my family has owned has needed expensive repairs. A starter which is a common failure up north here, is like $150-300 installed, a VW, Toyota, Honda, is closer to $300 for the part alone and more to put it on. Just an example.

A first car should never be more than $2000 under any circumstances!!!!! It will get scratched, dinged, or wrecked, or forget / choose not to get it maintained. I have seen it with all my friends, and learned from them. "oh, i;ve got a 2005 ??????, and no it doesn;t burn oil!" The next month, "ahhhhh, my engine up and quit on the off ramp, can you pick me up?" Hummm, did ya bother checking the oil sometime in the past year? Cause the connecting rod is now sticking thru the block!!!

When I turned 16...I got the hand me down that was only able to get me from point A to point B...But I loved every minute of owning it!! Be luck just to be able to have a car to call your own!! =D

you can get a 97 pontiac grand prix GTP for that price. maybe even a 2 door.
