Well when it comes to luxury, quality, speed, engine and unbeatable in peformance, mainly 2 names pop up in your mind...BMW and Mercedes Benz. Yes the Mercedes brand has dominated the market for quite sometime now in ultimate luxury cars but since the BMW 7 series has come into market.....man competition is stiff. BMW has the luxury, posh yet subtle look which doesn't simply project a image of somone with money but also it says someone with class.
Mercedes on the other hand too is amazing in performance and engine but the same old designs and everything has reduced its face value. Plus you see a lot more mercedes on road then 7 series so. Considering everything these 2 cars have to offer including their price tag, my vote definitely goes to the new BMW 7 series.

if you want to talk luxury then nothing beats Rolls Royce (now owned by BMW) and Maybach (owned by the same parent company as Mercedes Benz).
Don't you all love my Lexus

havent you forgotten the Audi a8 (brilliant car, I drove in) or the VW Phaeton?
For me, nothing can defet the audi. The 7 series has an optic I don´t like and the mercedes is too old (not the engine, but the optic). Grandfathers can drive that vehicle

I'm guessing you guys aren't taking into consideration or pricing, so, I'd say either a Roles or a Bentley...I haven't seen any Bentley's where I'm at so that's something that'll set you apart from everyone else's BMW or Benz...^_^

i would go for the 7 series...it's more sporty. mb tends to be for the older crowd while the bmw's tend to be for the younger crowd...then again...young people can't afford these nice cars anyways!

personally, i think bmws are much better cares than mercedes. the closest thing to the bmw is definitly audi. when i was looking to get a new car (2000\2001), i did all of my research and comparisons between cars. after i was all said and done i decided to go with the m3. i know its more costly than most cars in its class, but its definitly worth every cent. honestly this one of the best cars ive ever driven. it will blow any mercedes out of the water, it handles and drives so much better. not saying that mercedes arent nice cars, but i still believe bmw is just on a much higer level. one of the few cars that mercedes makes that i really like is the s class (thought i think the 7 series is nicer and has alot more options) and sl500 (but now you're talking 100K+).

The 7 series is better engineered IMO but the mercedes name tag still carries more prestigue value.

Personally I like the 745i better because the Mercedes is becoming a bit too common. I see one and dismiss it as just another car. Whereas if I see a BMW 745i pull up next to me, I can't stop looking!!!
