This is a review of the Nokia 5300. The 5300 is basically a music media geared phone, with headphone jack and many other multimedia features.

    Specs:

    General Network: GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900
    Size Dimensions: 92.4 x 48.2 x 20.7 mm, 85 cc
    Weight: 106 g
    Display Type: TFT, 256K colors
    Size: 240 x 320 pixels, 31 x 42 mm, Downloadable themes, Ringtones
Type: Polyphonic (64 channels), MP3 Customization Download
    Vibration: Yes
    Memory Phonebook: Yes
    Call records: Yes
Card slot: microSD (TransFlash), hotswap, 5 MB internal memory

    Pros:

    -Great display
    -Easy to use
    -MP3 media player,
    -1.3-megapixel camera,
    -Bluetooth
    -Expandable memory slot
    -Push-to-talk

    Cons:

-Memory card slot is an inconvenient location
    -Internal memory is only 5MB.
    -No flash on the camera
    -Poor preset music equalizer
-Ok Battery life (about 3 days)

The MP3 player is horrible when using the preset equalizer. After messing around with the equalizer, I was able to get pretty good quality, especially using some 3rd party headset, even with songs that were compressed at M4A 48kbps. I tested the same compressed files with some of my friends' phones and other MP3 players, The 5300 performed as good if not better than most of them. I wish there was a way to edit the crappy preset equalizer. The camera quality is better than some 2.0 cameras I've seen, but there is no flash so forget about night shots. The battery life could be longer but its not terrible.

The Nokia 5300 is a pretty decent phone. Its MP3 capability give it an edge over most phones. The sleek design and easy to use buttons make it an ideal phone for those always on the go. I wish the stock memory was a little higher but it can be upgraded. Overall this is a decent phone.

The 5MB internal memory is a deal breaker for me.

Thanks for the review. I see that it is triband. Does anyone have experience with Nokia 5300 if it works in India. Any advantage to having a quad band again triband. In countries like USA, India which have only specific frequencies? Thanks

any dual or triband phone will work in India renu.. USA .. And as for the USA, as long as its a GSM network ur on, a Tri-Band phone should work.

Why don't you choose one from the Nokia N Series.
On a whole,The Nokia N Series, IMO, has the best design and ease of use, sleekest looks, most brilliant screen, most logical menus, most flexibility. HANDS DOWN!!!
The only thing that takes getting used to is the USB port. That is the only thing that's a little tricky at first... like the very day you get the phone. After that, no biggie.

    Nokia 5300 Question

I bought this phone while in US. I got this unlocked but now in India its not catching up any network. When manually searching a network, it only shows Airtel and on selecting that, it says "no network access". Basically I am not able to run this phone on a network in India. Do anyone have idea on this!

    Thanks much in advance.

Great review, I'd buy one if it were Symbian!
