    Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW

    ALERT

A short cut worth mentioning when texting, is after you finish typing, instead of hitting done, then hitting send, just hit the chrome icon phone on the bottom left of the DARE after you type your message, and your text will be sent.

    Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW

    Alert..

When you use the dial pad to punch in a number, holding down the last digit you enter will automatically activate dialing the number.

Just a little short cut to save a step.

    Ins. Protection? Voy vs Dare?

    aepple

You referred to the Insurrace Protection on the Dare -- Is that the Insurance bought through Verizon or is it something with LG specific to the model?

Since you own both Voyager & Dare, which do you prefer?

I checked them both out & liked the Voyager better. But it could be a learning curve w/ the touch screen...

And don't ask my usage -- I've never used a cell phone but in emergencies -- but I am growing up & moving from my little Trackfone to a family Plan (Hubbie has a real plan w/ Ver. & now son is old enough to get e real phone so cheapie me can start juistifying the expense).

So now that the bells & whistles are offered I'll be making some lifestyle changes

Well, let me say that my daughter has my voyager since i upgrade to the DARE, I occasionally pick up her phone to check something or make a call and i wouldn't want to go back to using the voyager, she loves her voyager, and i think its a good phone, but i love the DARE touch.

The touch screen is great, I don't find it to be a issue any longer, as i stated before, the more you use the touch screen, the better you become. If someone never use a touch screen before, like me, you could pick up the DARE or even the iPhone, and after 3-10 days, still feel intimidated or frustrated using it, give it time.

The insurance for the DARE and any of their phones is offered by verizon, i think its 4.95 a month, that covers stolen, broken, and lost. I would check their policy on exactly what is covered, i know it covers lost phones. Double check verizon's policy if you decide to buy it. I have 4 phones but only insure two of them, the DARE and Voyager.

Again i will state that my opinion is base on my needs for a cell phone, you'll notice i never talk about music or videos because i don't watch or listen to them using my Dare, not to be confuse with taking videos with the video camera which i do use. Good luck.

After using the DARE for over a month now i keep finding tricks and short cuts through experience and friends, stay tuned.

    Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW

The below link will take you to the thread that shows my post sent from my DARE.

    http://cellphoneforums.net/lg/t28080...e-lg-dare.html

Although it work great, i would hate making a living replying from a cell phone, it's just not a laptop or keyboard, in a pinch if you have to go to a website and read/reply to something... ah.. it works, but i'm not giving up my 17 inch Mac Powerbook just yet.

I would suggest when you reach the CPF website or any website on you DARE, you click on the magnify glass (Zoom-In) to increase the size of the fonts which makes it easier for you to click/touch on your selection/links.

    ALERT:

When your DARE is in the lock position and you have a incoming call, you don't have to unlock the phone to answer, just click on the chrome button (phone icon) on the bottom left and say HELLO. When your call is over your phone will be in the unlocked mode.

    Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW

    Alert:

I thought this was pretty cool, i don't know if anyone would use it, but when you receive a text message or reviewing and old one, there is a icon that seats in between the heading titled " inbox " and the arrow pointing left. Click on that icon and your message will be read to you out loud by-way-of digital voice.

The icon should look like a square head with a sound wave design in front of the mouth.

    Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW

Here is a panorama of my backyard... totally cool!
When in that mode, it lets you know 3 pictures will be taken with 3 corresponding buttons at the bottom of the screen.....
The left button is lit as it awaits your shot, then the middle, then the last.
With the second and third shot, you can see the tail end of the last shot you took in a transparent format so you can line up your new shot with your last one..... don't worry, if your not perfect, the software will be!

The above picture from is this size after posting on photobucket:
    160px × 38px
    21.17 KB (21677 bytes)

If you download this picture from photobucket,, it will then appear as 71,021 bytes on your computer.

The resolution of the original on my phone is much better:
    1536X368
    183.1kb in size

Imagine what the real picture looks like!
    Nothing like German lenses!

My prior phone was the 2.0mp LG VX8700... I thought it took great pictures... but not compared to this!
I tried to take pictures of my long haired miniature dachshunds on my bed with my LG8700, and I had to get very close to the dog to get his color and to make out his hair, otherwise the sheets either too white and the dog was too dark, or I had to be so close to the dog, I couldn't see anything else.. but the dare gets it all.. it has much better abilities to obtain the contrast differences between the light and dark and still get it all.
Also try taking a picture of a letter on your keyboard!... I was able to get a crystal clear picture from 2 inches!.... the autofocus works by very gentle touch to the camera key, then you can take your picture, or you can just take it and it seems to do great anyway unless your trying something really weird "like 2 inch shots!".

It will also take "stills" from your video's "up to 5 at a time" and the quality will correspond to the original quality of the video.... they don't look half bad either!

It seems the best pictures come when you least expect it and don't have a camera.. finally I have a camera thats actually decent quality on my phone!

    Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW

Looks great, i trying to find the separation or where you lined up each photo, and i can't, good job. I've been playing with the 3 shots and so far taking photos like the one you did is easier than taking people. People don't tend to line up as good as scenery due to body movement and facial expressions, but i keep practicing. It seems like the key to taking shots of people is to make sure your photo ends up and /or starts with scenery and not people.

    Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW

Exactly... moving objects are quite the challenge... something like the surface of water is easier... I see no physical way for the software to do it either.... when two objects no longer align because several seconds have passed... there is no way to add intelligence to make it perfect.

If you literally "1/3" the picture, this where the lines are, but the quality of the downloaded picture is too poor to zoom up and find them... one is on the left lawnchair and the other is down the middle of the slide where the rails connect.... not bad technology for a phone!

This phone will take up to 9 shots of one scene... I suppose if the shutter was extremely fast and the intelligence of the software was good enough, one could pan as the shots are going off... but that would be a challenge for any computer or software.

    Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW

    Alert:

When your texting to someone, and your message length takes you below the keypad, touch the little down arrow to hide the keyboard, press the arrow again (up Position) and the keyboard will come back.

This came in handy for me about 2-3 times when my text message was a bit long, hitting the arrow saves steps instead of touching "DONE" which takes you to the send ready screen in order to proof read your message, and then having to touch the message body to bring you back to your type-pad to finish your message or to make corrections.

awesome updates guys! Has anyone figured out how to save settings for the camera? Such as keeping "smart pic on, face recognition on, and having flash set as 'auto'?"
