One thing though I didn't find an obvious clue to the safe combination other than working from common sense (I stumbled across the correct combination on my second attempt... I wonder if that's typical? ) I suspected the url on the paper had something on that address?... the link was dead however... anyway... it wasn't so difficult.

I was able to get out of the room too. Just have to be very patient and you need to do a lot of clicking.

Yes, a lot of it. And use some commoon sense also.

Was able to get out. I think some of items are time based.

Ah... must be my secure computer then or something... anyway it was only a 4 number combination and I figured it was a year so it was never an issue... it's very easy folks do plenty of clicking and search the entire room some items you have to find other items first to find others... took me about ten minutes maybe...

had no patience to click all around the room!!! got so frustrated when i couldn't find the rest of the things... got my sis to play instead... =p she showed me the rite places to click, and damn, have to be exactly tt place, otherwise can't find it!! *grumbles*

...I got all the way to the code ~>then I cheated LOL
So I got out with a little help...

i had no patience... so stopped trying after 5 mins.

so can someone post where to click step by step?

I honestly don't remember what items I discovered first but... they were all over and the cd case as far as I could tell had nothing to do with anything... first though look through the drawers I believe that's the most obvious step... then click every inch of the room. Go back over each section too especially the window...

...and if you really wanna' know more... (sorry Alcozma... borrowed her line ) I did not see another hint site so here it is! There was another chit chat site but not much info there...
I'll hide it for those who don't want the "ending" spoiled...
Here it is!
The Crimson Room Walkthrough Cheat Hint ( however you wanna' say it~)

1. open the top right drawer for the memorandum.
2. open the top left drawer for the cd...
3. look into the bowl on the top right of the bureau and take the ring
4. look under the bureau for the cassette tape
5. open the curtain for the small silver key
6. look under the pillow on the bed for the gold key
7. use the gold key to open the lower left drawer for the cord for the stereo
9. go to the blank wall and click near the low left corner for the battery on the edge of the bed
10. use the silver key to open the lower right drawer for the projector
11. connect the power cord to the cd player
12. turn the power on the cd player and open the cd tray for another key located in the tray
13. look again next to the pillow on the bed below the headboard for the metal rod
14. go back to the curtain and click it 3 times on the right hand side to expose the other ring with the engraved sculpture on it
15. click on the small box of "mistory" and place the two rings and the metal stick into the indentations on top of the movie projector
16. place the ring on the left into the left slot and the other into the remaining slot then the metal rod into the other space then click on the red box to open it.
17. insert the battery and the video tape then click again to play the film short
18. watch the movie ...
19. watch to see where the dancer is pointing then place the mouse pointer on that spot and wait for the film to FULLY (this is IMPORTANT!) play out then click that "+" twice and a square will appear on the wall
20. click the square twice to reveal a safe
21. use the key to open the safe (the combination is the year 1994)
22. exchange the key for the screwdriver then go to the door
23. click on the door knob
24. FREE at last!!!!

That's pretty much it and there is no escape list the author realised late what a bad idea that was! Anyway, it wasn't so bad like I said 5 or ten minutes and that was without using the memorandum to visit that site for the combination... I didn't need it! Much like the useless cd case.
