I don't think I could answer this with one book

my first fav book was either
The Tripods trilogy by John Christopher .. I read this trilogy when I was in grade 4 and I still like it, a good read (I'm a sci fi nut)

I read the Lord of the Rings when I was in grade 6 and also loved that ...

The Stephen Donaldson Thomas Covenant Chronicles (6 books in that series)
The Mirror of her Dreams series is also good
I also liked the Gap series although it was a little dark (I have the hardcover edition of the 5th book and that's the pic I put up on my website)

Raymond E Feist Magician, Silverthorn etc.... lotsa books by him...

I used to read a lot of Stephen King - his short stories are his best work, he is a really good writer, he just writes a lot of crap in between the good stuff, I read 'IT' when I was really young and it gave me a bit of a fright, The Stand, and The Talisman are also good ...

I haven't even listed half my favourite books - I could be here for ever... I'll take a break and come back with some more tonight LOL

i've got most of stephen king's collections of short stories. his earlier collections are more varied in quality, whereas his newer stuff like the everything's eventual collection are pretty good on the whole.

I must try and read some of those books!!!

I like all kinds of books but you can't beat a good thriller/crime book

i always loved the Ed McBain series, its quite like a NYPD blue or Law and Order on the TV.
They're short and sweet but very interesting!!!!!

I don't have a favorite because I don't read all that much but The Art of Deception was interesting. Things Fall Apart is also a great story.
