CRIBNAPPED WOMAN SUES MTV: Ja Rule’s Miami ‘crib’ was actually someone else’s.

(Aug. 30, 2004) *How embarrassing is this? MTV is being sued by a woman whose mansion was purported to be Ja Rule’s in an episode of “Cribs.”
Homeowner Jeanette Varella claims in the lawsuit that she never gave permission for MTV to film inside of her eight-bedroom mansion in Miami’s exclusive Star Island enclave, and never authorized the network to air the footage.

Ja Rule gave MTV viewers the impression that the crib was his own, but according to the “Miami Herald,” the rapper’s corporate sponsors only rented the waterfront house for a few days in 2001, during the long Memorial Day weekend. The paper said they paid $16,000 for rent plus a $30,000 security deposit.

Ja Rule is named as a co-defendant in the lawsuit, which also alleges that he hosted a rowdy party for 600 people in violation of the rental agreement.

"After the party, there were numerous syringes and condom wrappers strewn about the mansion," the lawsuit claims.
