pressured into getting a cell phone?

well anyways at school i notcied that alot and i mean ALOT of people have been getting cell phones.i think that its kinda a new wave of peer pressure in getting a cell phone to look cool. what do you guys think?

I think you should do what you want to do and not what somebody wants you to do... Then again I never had to worry about having the latest technology I was always one of the first to have it... If you need to have a cell phone that's one thing but... if you don;t and you're only reason for getting it is because everyone else has it... that seems kinda' foolish and wasteful to me.

Just wait till they get older and it's a necessity for folks like me... sometimes I feel like I'm a slave to my cellphone... it's with me 24/7 ...even when I'm on holiday... I did get a bit of a break when I was in Europe for a couple of weeks about a month ago... I purposely left it at home. :P

It sounds to me like you are the one applying the pressure sf... I mean... noone is twisting your arm (according to your post), you just feel the need to "look cool"?

Every one of us defines "cool" to ourselves... I'm cool... to me at least ... its a geeky kinda cool.. I like what I like, I'm good at what I do, and I don't wear belly shirts even if everyone at school does. Doesn't make me less cool in my own eyes - and frankly, they're the eyes that matter most.

it's uncool to be thinking it's cool to give in to peer pressure
