I heard yesterday that bad weather is the fourth most likely cause of death for a cell-phone.
Have you ever had a phone just die because it was caught in bad weather?

I write for a New York mag, and I'm trying to write a story about this -- so I want to hear how common this is.

Of course, pretty much everybody has a story where they've accidentally drowned a cellphone. (Dropped in a pint of beer / bowl of soup / etc etc!)

But this past 12 months' weather has been awful, and more and more I hear people saying that their phone died accidentally during bad weather -- snow, rain, hurricane, you name it. (My own phone died while it was *in my bag* during a rainstorm. So I know what I'm talking about here...)

I want to hear from anyone who has had this happen! Shoot me back a message, explaining what happened, and include all the funny / sad details! If it's a good story, I'll want to ask a few more questions. I especially wanna hear your story if the phone died while it was in a pocket or a bag -- ie. when it should have been safe!

Write back with your best wet-phone tales! And hurry! I have to hear from you soon, by end of Thursday!

    Thanks!

Yes, I have... I was using my phone in the rain, and I guess the rain got into the phone, and ruined it...

ive never had a weather accident, THANK GOD. i have had a angry boyfriend throw my phone at the wall like it was a dart, going into a dart board! it was a nokia, one of the most durable phones in the world and it didnt break BUT the screen was working except for the bottom, you could hardly read the bottom of it... =(
from that point on, my phone is HIGHLY protected, AT ALL TIMES
