So Angry!

I am so annoyed, irritated, aggravated and everything else in that category. For 2 reasons, the first one is because i just typed out this thread and before i could send my computer froze! ahh!!! and secondly, heres the deal...
A few years back I worked for a store near my house called Cumberland Farms. I was there Full Time. Well, my manager who we will call Andy* was always leaving early to drink, coming in half drunk, calling out cause he was too drunk or because he wanted to get drunk. You get the picture. Well, a few months into working there, it was established that nobody liked the manager Andy*. So, a few months after I was working there, I was accused of stealing 250.00 out of the register. Of corse I did not do that, I am NOT a theif. The same day I was accused of this, two employees were hired part time. They were a married couple who always work together. Mind you, I am STILL employed for Cumberland Farms at the time of the alligations. I was just told not to come in UNTIL we got to the bottom of the situation. Fine, no problem, i understand completely. So, after bringing these alligations to the main boss, we all reviewed the cameras in a room, proving I absalutely DID NOT steal any money! Remember* i am STILL employed throughout this ENTIRE ordeal! Well after it was confirmed that Andy* was lying about the whole thing, suddenly my job was given away to the two new employees who were hired part time but wanted FULL time. Andy* figured the only way to hire them full time was to get rid of ME. So he tryed to do just that. I did QUIT when i found out that day, that they took over my job full time. So, now instead of sueing them for false alligations and deformation of character and many other things, I was the nice little renee that i always am and did NOT. well...
For the past 3 years I still go in there to buy my ciggs and what not, using my mothers debit/credit card, with no problems, ever! Well, about 3 days ago I go in there and Andy* is working, i ask for two packs of Newports and he gets them, takes a look at the card and says "um, this isnt your card". I go your right its not my card, its my mother's who is disabled and unable to get here. I use that card with NO problems every time i come here for the past 3 years and for the record YOU have also let me use it. Well Andy* cops an atittude and says "Your a little loopy, thats impossible", Okay, ill let you tell it, my mother has 3 years worth of RECEIPTS that i have SIGNED and some of which have YOUR name on it. So if you want to go there, we can do that! I leave..
Today, i go back in for ciggs. I walk in and i see Andy* in the isle, pricing some items. Behind the register are 2 employees who i THOUGHT i was cool with and who have ALWAYS let me use the card, no questions asked. So, i hand over the card and the lady says "um, i cant take this, and starts to say to Andy* hey she..." and i said "dont even ask that ( insert BAD word here ), he is on his way out of here anyway". So.. i try to get my card out of her hand and she pulls back so I jump on the counter and PULL it out of her hand and leave.. but as i was walking out i said " you have just lost yourself ALOT of business for the sake of a drunk (insert bad word here), your loss".. and i left and now i go to the gas station near my house which is cheaper AND always has buy one get one free ciggs, thats what i love. I always get the buy one get ones lol...
What do you guys think of all this? I am planning on filing a complaint and I have a lawyer for this.. Its getting out of control now. I have proof that he has let me use the card MANY times before. Cause it has MY MOTHERS card number on the recipet along with HER name and MY signed name on the bottom...

What did you do to make Andy* hate you so much?

As far as the card thing goes? if mom's name is signed on the back of it and she gives you written permission to use it it should be good with anyone. Have her call that shop and tell Andy* its okay.... he'll have to accept the combination of verbal and written permissions. COuld be that their store has had some fraud issues of late and HAVE to crack down or face the big boss....

But I lost you in there.... you were cleared, then demoted to part time anyway? THAT is when you should have made the fuss girl... you may have missed your chance

believe it or not (since i have such a glowing personality), i once was in a similar job security predicament.

i got demoted to even fewer hours on part-time (i was in college), basically to be a weekend gopher. i know it was because i stood up to the head honcho when things were bad and he wanted me out, but didn't have the brass to say it to me. so i quit on the spot. i should have fought it since they were in the wrong, but i'm glad i didn't in retrospect.

but morale of the story, like jeanie said, you have to fight it at the time, not down the road.

unfortunately, this has flowed over into your 'personal' shopping life, so i'd just avoid going there in the future. right or wrong, i think they have the 'right' to refuse service to any customer without explanation, so you should refuse them your patronage.

ultimately, you're hurting them more. plus i think the other store sounds better.

Jeani, i didnt do ANYTHING to make him hate me, hes just a miserable person. Anyone who knows me personally, knows that i get along with EVERYONE and if for some reason I dont, theres something wrong with that other person!! I am an EXCELLENT judge of character and knew within 10 minutes of speakin with andy* my first day on the job that i didnt like him. BUT never once did i let that be known in anyway, such as dirty looks, attitude, nothing like that at all. Infact, id work MORE hours than nessasary! Well, thats what i forgot to include, my mother CALLED andy* AND went down there IN person to prove shes disabled and i am her proxy and i am listed on her accounts. He said its not acceptable. He is just being a jerk, cause he can.
That store has NEVER had any fraud problems or anything like that.. its just HIM being that way!! The big boss is actually on OUR side..we called administration a little while ago, after i had already wrote that! What i didnt explain very well was, I was suspended until the investigation was over, there for i was STILL FULL TIME! Its against the law in Mass to demote someone or fire them, during or before an investagion. Therefor HE was in the wrong and I could of sued.. When the investigation ended and i was CLEARED, i went back to work, and the couple had taken over my FULL time position and i was told i was working part time. So, i dealt with it, i stayed and within 15 minutes, i was told i was fired. I should of explained this a bit better. I could of sued, i didnt do ANYTHING to get FIRED OR DEMOTED. I needed my job, badly, thats the ONLY reason i went back and put up with even PART time, but within id say, 15 minutes, i was told i was FIRED!!! i never said anything about it again to anyone in there, and to top it off, that couple is STILL working there and actually are REALLY nice to me. In mass the statue of limitations is 7 years for work related issues/sexual harassment/ etc.. so i can still proceed if i want, at this point, i believe i am. My mother has gotten a lawyer. OH, he called me "Loopy" when i explained to him that i used the card all the time for the past 3 or more years and HE infact let me use it MANY times and i got his name on the receipts!! so.. strike 3 for him! one strike for demoting me and stealing my job away and creating a lie saying i robbed the store, strike 2 for firing me for no reason strike 3 for calling me LOOPY ( at thi spoint I AM A CUSTOMER, u do NOT speak to a customer in that manner, EVER) AND strike 4 for not allowing my mothers permission FACE TO FACE AND over the phone to be acceptable for me to use the card...SO, when i own cumberland farms, everyone on CPF gets their share!! =)

Functional alcoholics are horrendous to work for or with. What amazes me is that management has Andy working at the store again after finding out he is a thief.
Personally, I would scrap the whole lawyer/court thing...alot of time and energy for what? I would not patronize the place EVER and I would spread the word to all my friends, neighbors, relatives to steer clear of the place.
I was given an estimate to repair my air conditioning system for $1400 (basically replacing the entire system). In that it worked, but intermittently, and I didn't have the money to shell out, I declined the service. I did some research on the internet and found out that the problem I was having was not uncommon to the same make/model and year car I was experiencing and was quite possibly dirty contact points. Replacing the part vs cleaning would be the same in length of servicability.
Months later I had an electrical problem that caused my electric windows and climate control not to work at all. Took a little bit for my mechanic (I found a good, honest one) to figure out that it was probably the ignition switch. The igniton switch powers several accessories and has several contact points as well. I had told him about the other automotive place and my research on the internet. He suggested replacing the ignition switch. I said, OK. When he got the dashboard apart and got a good look at the switch he saw that the contact points were dirty, and said, let's try cleaning them and see if that works and save you some money. Guess what? Once he cleaned the points everything worked just fine. I asked him, since he had the dashboard apart to check the points on the climate control circuit board. The points were dirty, he cleaned them..took less than 5 min since the dash was already apart. I was billed for 1 1/2 hrs labor, no parts and had everything working like new.
The other automotive shop has no clue how much potential business it has lost, I filed a complaint with the state, and my mechanic who just opened his own shop has had so many customers come to him he had to hire help. I even recommended him to an acquaintance of mine who manages a small fleet of company vehicles.
Focus your energies on the positive, give your business to those who welcome it and you.
In the future, if you find yourself working with somebody who has a problem, alcohol, drugs, mental, whatever, get a notebook and record everything, dates, times, what occured. Give each incident its own page. Talk to your manager. Make notes about about that meeting. If nothing happens go to the next level or human services. Make notes. If you get canned or demoted then you have notes to take to a lawyer and it will only strengthen your case. Also, if you have a time clock, stamp the page you are making the notes on using the time clock if you can. If anybody asks I would tell them I am taking notes and want the date and time validated...but only IF they ask.

Contact the BBB... he can't really get into trouble for insulting a customer, but considering past circumstances, I'd contact them anyway

The BBB is no big deal, especially if they are not a member anyhow. Do you realize that one pays for the priviledge of membership? For that you get your name in a directory and a sticker to put in your window. The BB simply logs the number of complaints really. They don't intervene in any way. Most convenience stores aren't too concerned with that. They provide convenient access to popularly sold items, open early til late 365 days a year. No huge parking lots, a few aisles and no long lines for checkout. It's not like giving your business to a contractor, plumber, mechanic or electrician whose livlihood can be seriously effected by a poor reputation.
