In a household where there are males and females living in it, should the toilet seat be up or down? And who's responsibility is it to put the seat in the position that is needed to use the toilet?
**This popped up in another thread, so figured, heck why not make it's own thread**
This bear votes for the user to put the seat in the position they need the seat to be. I mean if you think about it, if the seat it up, at least you know it's dry!
Oh and while we're at it... Fuzzy toilet seat covers that keep the seat from staying up... WTF?!?!?
I know in a household with kids that are at that flush it all stage of life, that lid locks are the key!

This is not going to be a stereotypical male response. I always put the seat down.
Now, I don't do it because my wife and daughter rag on me for leaving it up. Instead, I do it because we have 3 cats who like to drink out of the toilets. What does that have to do with anything, you ask? Well, we started to use bleach disks in the toilet tank a few years ago, to eliminate a mold issue we used to have, and though the package states it is non-toxic, we prefer not to take any chances.
Besides, when you stumble in late at night to evacuate the bladder, do you really want to risk dropping anything into the toilet by accident?LG VX9900 (enV)

the 'seat' is always down in my house now. not because i think it should, but it's just easier to do it than argue the valid reasons why it is the user's responsibility to put the seat in the correct position.

Of course people with pets or kids need the entire lid down with a 40 pound Acme anvil on top.

So.... I watched this home-type show once.... and they had this really cool "water feature in the bathroom they were redecorating (Loft style condo)... so they redid the whole room to show off this water feature... it was a stainless steel wall that a continuous sheet of water ran down... they had lighting and they repositioned the sink and and and.....
....and the producers contacted the former owners to get a history on the design of said water feature only to be told "Water feature??? We put in a cool urinal, is that what you mean?"Last edited by jeaniesing; 02-16-2006 at 06:45 PM. Reason: spelling error... and its already quoted... durnit

Of course when she looks at you with those hurt eyes, you'll have to do what she says.
But if your mum is anything my mom was, you'll have to rebel and run very quickly!

I remember when I started sharing a house with my best friend she said something like this:
Leaving the Toilet Seat Up
Women have been complaining about this phenomenon for years… and with good reason. Toilets are drains that can suck wealth right out of your life. Get into the habit of keeping the lid down when the toilet is not in use.
Its Feng Shui.....
Jeanie, I loved that story

I just know I won't be able to cash in anything I put in the toilet bowl, at least not getting arrested in trying!!
Store Clerk: "Ah.. sir, we can't take that in excahnge for your groceries.."
Me : "Why not?, it's Feng Shui."
Store Clerk: "Oh well that's different! I thought it was S***!" <edited to protect the children>
