Has anyone got a chance to see it yet. IMO it had awesome special effects but could of used some more action scenes. Brandon Routh wasn't as bad as I thought he would be, but I still think they could of found someone better to play Superman.

Re: Superman Returns
I loved it!
It was faithful to it's predecessors and to the comic book that inspired them. Brandon Routh was a phenomenal choice, he does the Chris Reeve facial expressions to a tee! Story, action and special effects, Superman Returns is without a doubt the best action movie of the summer.LG VX9900 (enV)

Re: Superman Returns
I'm a fan of Superman and originally I thought this film was going to blow hard even though I was hping it wouldn't. I'm so glad I was proven wrong. This film, while it does has some serious flaws to both character and story, was awesome! Routh did a great job as supes. He was great as Clark and as the Man of Steel. The only real downer for me was Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane. I thought her character wasn't written well and even worse was Kate's performance.
Overall though, it's the one film this summer that lived up to the hype for me.

Personally, I would compare Batman Begins to Superman Retuns. Both movies broke the mold of their preceding franchises and brought to the screen new faces for the old characters.Last edited by paulcman; 07-26-2006 at 09:46 AM.

Re: Superman Returns
As a long time DC comic and Superman fan, I'll be seeing it today. Wish my mom were still alive, as I know she'd like it, even though she was a die hard Marvel Universe girl.... hell she was in her 70's and still reading comics, and I think if it were not for her and my dad, and their collections of comics, most of which they had before any of us were born (1957 here), I never would have had a love for reading that I do now, if it weren't for comics.
Too bad we didn't keep all of those comics after some of our moves (army brat), we gave tons and tons of them away. WAAAAHHHHHHH!

Re: Superman Returns
Going to see Superman on Friday at the outdoor theatre. Are my 4 nieces/nephews gonna enjoy it too?
Honestly, I'm going in not expecting much. The Brandon guy just seems off everytime I see him. Dunno what it is. But then again, I've never been a big Superman fan. He just seems too invincible. The hero has to have some weakness, other than a green rock.
And regarding Batman, the new one was definitely the best of the series. It was cool how it showed the way darker side of Batman, and his troubled past leading up to his present. To me, the next installment is way more exciting than any previous Batman sequel.

You will not be disappointed by Brandon Routh as Clark Kent/Superman.
I agree that Batman Begins could be the best, technically, of all the Batman movies. However, I will always say that Batman (the first Tim Burton film) is the best, because it revived a tired, overdone, very cheesy franchise. It brought Batman back into the mainstream, and showed Batman in a darker light than ever before on the big or small screen.
I, too am very excited about the next installment of Batman. It promises to be even better than Batman Begins. As for Superman, I look forward to upcoming installments of this new Man Of Steel as well.Last edited by paulcman; 07-26-2006 at 09:04 PM.

Re: Superman Returns
My bladder was going to explode for most of the second half of the movie, but I couldn't bring myself to get up for fear of missing something good. It is a really good movie. I was iffy about Brandon Routh, but he did a good job. He would probably suck doing anything else, but he makes a great Superman. He has a lot of similar features to Christopher Reeve.

I thought Superman was a great movie. Routh bears such a striking resemblance to Reeves, and he did a fantastic job of portraying Kent/Superman.
In regards to Batman Begins, it was definately much darker than all the previous films, which is the way it was meant to be in the first place. It is more true to the comics than its predecessors, which, IMO, sort of made a mockery of the Dark Knight...
