do yourself a favor and wait until video... it was alright but it is not scary and it was definetly not amazing... however there was a few very funny moments and some very good characters.. overall though i wouldnt waste my $ at the theater... anyone think this... i assume there was some kinda of hidden meaning in the movie but for one i dont know anything about m night or his views so even if i wanted to i wouldnt see the hidden messages

Clerks 2 was hilarious. I wanted my money back after Signs and Scary Movie 3.

I hear it was Shalamyans worst movie, so I went to see Clerks 2 instead (which I highly recommend!).

Yeah, I heard it was bad also. Of the people i spoke with, it seems that those who like The Village like Lady in the Water. Those who didn't like The Village didn't like lady in the Water. Just of the people from my work atleast.

    Re: Lady in the water

The Village wasn't a horrible movie, not what I expected, but it was a bit interesting.

I think the problem is that everyone thinks M. Night Shyamalan's movies are supposed to be ultra-scary. Out of the few I've seen (Signs, Unbreakable and The Village), none have been "scary" movies as I define them. However, I was also not expecting a scary movie, nor do I care if it was or not. I find his movies to be intreguing, Unbreakable especially. His twists in the plots are neat, and the fact that little things that you think mean nothing mean something in the end. Example of this is in Signs, with Bo leaving glasses of water everywhere (if you've seen Signs you'd understand).

I personally don't mind his movies at all, while I don't think they're Oscar matieral, they're still better than some of the nonsense I've seen in the past.

Thats a good point. Everyone, myself included, always thinks is stuff to be ultra-scary when its not (sorry for sweeping generalization).

Now i loved unbreakable. Awesome. I love the last part when David (Bruce Willis) realizes who Samuel L. Jackson is. Love that music mixed in. Always gives me goose bumbs. Dang! now i want to watch it, but for some bizzare reason, i don't own the movie

I have the special edition version, with both DVDs, in the book-style case that opens up tri-fold

I definately liked The Village the least out of all his movies that I've seen, but it was still an interesting story-line. I dunno, I never watched one of his movies assuming it would be super-scary, so maybe I didn't receive disappointment from that ?

I've seen that set before. I'm jealous.

I liked the story of the Village also. I didn't think it was great but it was an interesting story. Kinda fun to go back and watch and see some of the technical advances implemented into the regressed society they created.
