How would you guys feel about future cellphones eliminating the need for keys? Keys could be replaced with touch-screen dialing. You would dial by using a stylus to touch the screen. Phones could be made smaller as a result. I am not crazy about this idea because by touching the LCD screen continuously, the user would make prints or scratches on the screen and the LCD crystals would get discolored after a while of use. Also, suppose the stylus is lost or misplaced? A pen-tip could be used, but it would ruin the surface. This would be a bad idea. Sony introduced "Touch Screen" LCDs on some of their camcorders, so I refused to buy any. I like the old-fashioned buttons to push. "Touch-Screen" is cheaper to manufacture, too. A better idea would be "Voice Activated Dialing" where you say the names of the digits into the phone to make a call!

Re: Touch-Screen Dialing ?
Touch screen dialing is already being used on almost every PDA phone you can buy right now. As for voice dialing, this is already available on almost any moderately featured phone currently offered on the market.

Re: Touch-Screen Dialing ?
Wow, the future is already here and I didn't even know it. Then let's shoot for a cell phone that beeps loudly to notify the owner that it is being stolen or lost.
