The new Snickers commercials are ANNOYING!!!

Am I the only one who HATES the new Snickers commercials where the guy with the guitar sings the lame folk song? They didn't bother me at first, but after hearing it several times I got to where I can't stand it anymore. I have to mute the TV or change the channel and that causes me to miss parts of whatever show I'm watching at the time. I went to snickers.com and found the Contact Us link, and here is a copy of the comment I sent:

Your new commercials with the guy and the guitar are ANNOYING! My roommates and I all agree that it makes you NOT want to eat a Snickers bar. I have to change the channel every time it comes on, and that has caused me to miss parts of the shows I watch when I find something else on and forget to turn back. Please pull that ad before your sales start to drop! In case you didn't notice, folk music went out a long time ago and hippies don't have any money to buy your products anyhow.

LMAO well, that's my opinion on the matter anyway... so what do all of you think about it? By the way, if Consumer Affairs actually replies to my message, I'll post it here too.

Brad, I am very disappointed in you right now. I actually like those commercials... mostly becasue they annoy my wife to no end. I will go as far as singing the song during the commercial just to push a couple more buttons... (gosh, I love that woman... she puts up with so much **** from me!)

I feel sorry for your wife, lol! Everyone in my house scrambles for the remote whenever one of those commercials comes on... we all share the same feelings for it.

^^^ That's Robb, helping people enjoy their wilderness camping experience with a horribly annoying tv commercial, furthermore one for a product they probably can't buy anywhere near the camp.

Well Brad, guess what? That commercial did its job. It got you thinking about the product, even if it was in a negative way. It got you so riled up that you even made a post about it here and wrote the company! And, you remembered the stupid lyrics to the song! It seems that the advertisers are trying to piss people off nowadays. Negative feelings such as anger or annoyance are very powerful emotions and are memory triggers. If I say the word "gecko" what do you think of? Gieco Auto Insurance. I know that Gieco is not in the same category as that damn Snickers commercial, but you get the idea. Stupid is as stupid does, that's what mama always used to say.

Nah, I googled 3 words of the lyrics and ripped it off from some kid's myspace profile. You have some interesting points and I think you're right to an extent. However, I believe this new breed of "anti-marketing" is hurting companies more than they realize. Annoying the target audience is not going to make them buy your product... at least with me, if someone's stupid gimmick annoys me I tend to remember it as something I don't want to buy.
