I'm adding a line and new phone. Older phones were purchase in the 843 areacode. We're now in the 270 areacode. Can I still request a new number with the 843 area code?

    thanks

Umm... we don't know who your provider is.

I'd say they'll probably give you any number you want as long as they sell service in that area. For example, when I added my dad to my plan, they didn't sell service in his zip code so he had to get a number for the next nearest town with Sprint coverage. It was "local-toll" for his friends to call him, but otherwise they had no problem giving me a phone with a different area code.

    Re: Different Area Codes

The should be able to. Here in Denver, we now have two area codes (303 and 720) and the providers now almost always give out 720 numbers (the newer code) but my family always requests a 303 number. When my sisters went to college, they also were able to get a local number. So I think they should be able to give it to you.
