I'm curious, did you take a look at the technologies already being used in contries like japan and korea? Gererally they are always a year if not two ahead.

Yes, you are right.
For example, NTT DoCoMo is the one most popular in Japan and there have been experiments with, I guess, upto 5 Gbps data-rates. But I could not cover them all as the focus of the article was on global technologies.
