I'm doing a news story on the growing trend of New Yorkers who have gotten rid of their landlines, and are excusively using cell phones for all their calls. If you live in the New York area and have made this switch, please email me at [email protected]; I'd like to ask you about it.

Re: Have you gotten rid of your land line?
We don't get rid of our landlines. We still use it as an alternatives just like for example if we run out of load on our cellphones or if there is a bad signal on our provider. Landline is still useful.

Re: Have you gotten rid of your land line?
I must also mention, landline is still more reliable. Can't beat the 99.9995% reliability of that copper-wire network.
That said, I am a complete supporter of cellular only, and my home only has a landline because my wife's employer requires it.

Re: Have you gotten rid of your land line?
We got rid of our landline when mediacom gave us better deal on high speed internet than phone company. It was cheaper for us to up our minutes on cell phones and ditch land line. Sux though becuz it took care of the telemarketers. Just don't answer on cell. lol Now Mediacom is really bagging on Iowa Telecom since they offer phone service.

I still have my land line because sometimes I don't get good reception on my cell, don't know why.

Re: Have you gotten rid of your land line?
I hang on to my land line, I have a pre-paid phone, and have no plans to change.

yeah land line is still common here where i live (Malaysia) but cheap pre-paid is a big boom so it'll probably decrease.

Nope. My alarm system needs it, so it stays.
