How much time do moderators spend monitoring/moderating these forums? Do you get paid? Is this a service you provide because you're passionate about the topic? How can I become a moderator of this forum or one like it?

We spend as much time as we possibly can here. Some more than others.

Depends on what you considered paid. Money wise, no...but there are other things more important like friendship that go beyond monetary value.

Well, to become a moderator requires a lot of things. You must be an active, long time member of the forum. You must have a above average understanding of what the forum is about. You must have patients, understanding, and be able to answer the same question 10, 20, or a hundred times.

You must be willing to spend a good amount of time making sure the forum stays within the guidelines the owner(s)/admin(s) have set forth.

These are just a few things off the top of my head that I can think of. There are many other things that go along with it also.

I'd say to start with, become a active member. Posting, helping out, etc. wherever it is you want to stay. After awhile, the Mods, Super Mods, Admin's, etc. will notice you.

The MOST important thing to remember is to.....Have Fun!!!

If you take this as a job, take it as a fun job, because if you don't, you won't last very long at it.

The ones that do take advantage of the revenue sharing program (http://cellphoneforums.net/announcem...ne-forums.html) do make a couple $$ if they create a lot of new threads

I get paid $20,000 a year to moderate. Although John seems to be stiffing me as I have not seen a cheque as of yet

Seriously though, BossD is completely correct, it's a personal want to do it and the rewards are beyond monetary.
