Is it possible to get only mobile internet service from any cell of the phone service providers?
Then install skype and use it to make calls?

Re: Skype on Phone
Not that i know of, Here in ireland theres pre-pay providers you can use skype through, but you have to top up with at least €10 a month to keep skype active on your account.

Re: Skype on Phone
Sure you can, first you need a phone with 3G or WiFi.
Then all you need is a third party application:
iSkoot | Life on the go.

Re: Skype on Phone
it's just like skype on your pc. It uses data either via GPRS/EDGE/HSPDA or WiFi.
If you use Skype and Iskoot, of course you have to pay a fee. :/
Good luck finding a provider to give you just a data plan, other than with a Blackberry, and I don't think any of these are compatible with Blackberries.

Thanks.
Is 3G fast enough for Skype?

Re: Skype on Phone
Turns out I don't have 3G service in my area!
I can only use AT&T's EDGE, Sprint has speeds of 50 Kbps - 70 Kbps (slightly faster than dial-up), Verizon has their "Enhanced Services", and I think T-Mobile isn't good for internet anywhere.
So will Skype, or a different VoIP service work on any of these?
