I don't understand the Apple appeal...

Is it a necessary firmware upgrade though?

The more important question... why would you buy that piece of crap when you can buy an iPod classic 160GB that plays video. The iPod Touch is way too much of a gimmick than anything else.
"Ooooo.... look at the cool interface... I can move stuff with my fingers... yeah... so... that's it... really?"

I don't think it's worth it.. I'm not willing to pay $20 for something that can be easily jailbroken and same features could be added.

Its disgraceful having to pay for the upgrade while iPhone users pick it up for free
