I would agree Cingular rocks in Houston. I think they have done a good job overlaying their 850mhz network with GSM. The new addition of ATT and nextwave freqs. will really have then setup for some major capacity and room for 3G.

but they were the first people with GSM in the valley of cali and rollover and 7 to 7 off peak is awesome.

do their family plans start with 2 phones on the account with no additional fee?

except for sprint doesn't have sim cards. with cingular or any gsm u have the freedom to buy an unlocked phone anywhere and just use it right away. that's what i did, they didn't really sell the 7250i in America, or they didn't.

I love cingular. I think it's great. I never had any problems with them and I've been with Cingular for 3yrs. now. They have new great rate plans that are available now and cool ringtones, graphics and games for any for. Also, Cingular has cool cellphones out right now especially the camera phones.

Personally i think the cell phones that cingular offers are crap (no offense to anyone, i bought three of them...). i'd rather buy unlocked imported phones, but the prices are ridiculously high.

    Love it

I've had Cinggular for about 4 years and love it. Never had a problem. Even the customer service is pretty good.

The Official results are in... and it doesn't look very good for Cingular... or AT&T... or Sprint. These three are at the bottom of the poop pile for major problems regarding poor coverage/reception, overbilling and general billing errors, REFUSAL to correct said errors, and poor customer service.

I personally became interested in this subject after having a multitude of service and billing problems with Cingular for over two years. These problems eventually led to my receiving a bill for over $3,000... when the bill should have been no more than $300.

Granted, I had experienced this problem with Cingular before... but NEVER on this scale! At first, I thought that a simple phone call would straighten everything out... But it didn't. And that's where the nightmare began. To make a long story short... Cingular ended up basically extorting over $1000 bucks from my family over this situation... and they even damaged my credit in a malicious manner.

For those of you out there that are satisfied with your Cingular service... I'm glad for you, and you should consider yourself VERY lucky because you would not believe how many people on the Internet are complaining about Cingular!

Check out the details at my site if you want, and if you have any questions feel free to email me for more info.

I've had a lot of success with Cingular. They've let me sign up for things i was not eligible for and have always corrected my errors. One of my good friends hasn't been quite so lucky. I think the difference is i play dumb: i act like i don't know what's going on and i'm completely non threatening. If they try to pull something over my head, i reveal myself as informed. My friend is mean and pushy. I think the thing about Cingular's customer service is that they bight back, and most jerks used to calling customer service and complaning can't deal with it.

Sorry but *playing dumb" was never a good fit for me ;)

Mean & Pushy? ME? Good God. Tell you what... how 'bout letting me come over and try to steal $3000 from you... and then let's see how you feel afterwards

I guess doing volunteer work with ophans and homeless kids all over the planet for many years just made me plain mean and pushy. REALLY, I think where I went so wrong was relying on my years of studying eastern philosphy and Taoism. However... that approach of gentleness is VERY often misconstrued for weakness in western culture... especially when dealing with big business. That approach just didn't work well w/ Cingular, and playing dumb just isn't my style either

Granted, while living overseas for many years the virtues of respect, decency, kindness and reasoning ALWAYS got the best results when dealing with others... but here it is just sometimes so "out of place".... and can get you walked on in a heartbeat... especially in a business conflict with an evil company like Cingular.

Even when Cingular was refusing to backup with their extortion attempt... I kept my cool... NEVER yelling at anyone or making insulting or smartassed comments re: their obvious stupidity.

You see, I perfectly understood that it wasn't the poor little minium-wage-earning frontline worker that was responsible for this theft attempt ... rather it was the supervisor behind the scenes that refused to get on the phone. That was the force behind the evil... and he/she wanted to remain faceless and voiceless in order to protect their own conscience and ward off direct feelings of guilt. I guess being removed just makes it easier to mistraet customers and steal from them.

PLEASE do this right now... Go look at the Verizon discussions. Isn't it AMAZING that there are over 30,000 Verizon posts with VERY few Anti-Verizon posts. In fact, it appears that 99.9% of the posts are positive regarding Verizon.

NOW go look at the Cingular threads again. Cingular has just over 10,000 posts... and MANY of them are Anti-Cingular. Have you not noticed this? Something is terribly wrong here. I BELIEVE the problem here is that too many customers played soft and nice, and Cingular took FULL advantage w/ intentional overbilling

Maybe it's time to become Mean & Pushy, huh?

    Dear cingular_bad

I was only trying to help you, but your belittling response was very insulting, and put me on the defensive. You probably did the same thing to customer service, perhaps unintentionally. THAT, i would guess, is why you have a problem.

    sorry 'bout that! :)

Sorry if I offended you... but you sure didn't come off like someone trying to help!

It actually seemed as if you were comparing me to your friend that was "mean and pushy"... and then it seemed as if you summarized your point by insinuating that "mean and pushy people can't handle it... and then become jerks?"

Honestly... I bent over backwards so much trying to be nice for the poor Cingular drones that I think I BROKE my back!

You also didn't seem to be very sympathizing with my plight either and You actually started your post by claiming that you've had a lot of success with Cingular... and then comes the "mean and pushy" part .. and then the part about the jerk thing with... "and most jerks used to calling customer service and complaning can't deal with it."

One thing you're right about ... I definitely feel mad(mean???) because I'm really not very happy about having a company like Cingular try to extort $3000 bucks from me... and then end up successfully stealing $1000 from me... AND damage my credit.

Yep... I'm VERY mad... and I'm actually working 3-5 hours a day to do whatever I can to educate the public about the financial dangers of doing business with a criminally-minded company like Cingular. I feel a strong moral and ethical obligation to educate people about the pitfalls of dealing w/ Cingular.

In closing... if there is any humor in any of this... it is the fact that research done by The Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights CLEARLY show that roughly 25% of Cingular customers are REGULARLY experiencing *billing overcharges, *bad reception, and also *rude and disrespectful customer service... BUT YET there are still MANY that will actually defend Cingular to a degree.

OK... now for the funny part! This same research shows that a large portion of this 25% DON'T EVEN KNOW THEY'VE BEEN OVERCHARGED... and it also appears that some of the folks defending Cingular are from this group of "Folks that are being screwed but don't know it yet". The true Irony in this is that soon... when THIS group learns that they have been screwed too(while they were bragging about Cingular)... they will be joining our Anti-Cingular ranks by the truckloads
