Hey i was wondering, if I bought a P800 or P900 off ebay and I used my cingular sim card would it still work. The reason I'm asking is because I'm in an 850 mHz frequency range, but all the phones on eBay are 900 mHz

No, it would not work everywhere. Cingular uses 850 in most markets and 1900 in a few NE markets. Even if you live in the NE, coverage my vary from tower to tower, from what I've read.

The P800 and P900s off ebay (unlocked) will work with T-Mobile for sure, and may work with AT&T. I don't get any money for saying this (but I wish I did) -- go get yourself T-Mobile. Cingular service sucks:

I walked into a Cingular store a couple of months ago when the portable numbers were making everyone big sales, and they let me wait in a COMPLETELY EMPTY STORE for 15 minutes. Apparently, nobody was able to get off the phone or come from the back room to help a potential customer. They don't want my money? They're never getting it! And what are two-year contracts about anyway?

When my 12-month T-Mo contract ran out, they offered me new phones to sign up for another 12-months. Great deal, since the service has been great anyway -- and don't forget, free included WAP.

Ok, I'm done venting. To get back to the original question -- no P800 or P900 for Cingular users, sorry.

Yep, that's me. Working on search function, self-uploads (private files), and I got a weather and email portal going. T-Mo users (who get free WAP) should be able to cancel their T-Zones when I'm done ;-)

Self-uploads should be done before the end of the week. Private uploads or limited to, say, 100k, public uploads need to be approved (keeping it G-rated). I'm also trying to get a referral program going, because if we keep going at the current rate, I'm not going to break even on this -- thanks for your support tho!

Thanks -- we're at 21,000 wallpapers now. My wife is going through a big bunch, and we'll probably have another 20,000 up by the end of the week -- this would get us to over 50,000 files. Are we the biggest yet? ;-)

Well Folks... The Official Study results are in... and it doesn't look very good for Cingular... or AT&T... or Sprint.

These three are at the bottom of the poop pile for major problems regarding poor coverage/reception, overbilling and general billing errors, REFUSAL to correct said errors, and poor customer service.

I personally became interested in this subject after having a multitude of service and billing problems with Cingular for over two years. These problems eventually led to my receiving a bill for over $3,000... when the bill should have been no more than $300.

Granted, I had experienced this problem with Cingular before... but NEVER on this scale! At first, I thought that a simple phone call would straighten everything out... But it didn't. And that's where the nightmare began. To make a long story short... Cingular ended up basically extorting over $1000 bucks from my family over this situation... and they even damaged my credit in a malicious manner.

For those of you out there that are satisfied with your Cingular service... I'm glad for you, and you should consider yourself VERY lucky because you would not believe how many people on the Internet are complaining about getting ripped-off by Cingular!

Check out the details at my site if you want, and if you have any questions feel free to email me for more info.

Oh man, I'm so sorry to hear something like this happening to a fellow human being. My $80 dispute with Nextel pales in comparison, that's for sure. Come home to T-Mobile...

Anyhow, I'm sure you've already heard this, but you need to remain vigilant to repair your credit. First off, file a BBB complaint against Cingular. You can do this online in just a few minutes. Next, dispute the collection letter -- be sure to include something like this:

"I am disputing the validity of the referenced balance; please CEASE and DESIST from contacting me via telephone -- instead, use the following address for all correspondence: <your address here>"

They will read "cease and desist" and miss the dispute. However, you're not really asking them to C&D, you're just disputing the charges, and if they don't respond to the dispute within 30 days, the collection agency will go bye-bye. If they don't, simply file a BBB complaint against them -- they will usually reject the account instantly to keep their BBB rating up and not get slammed with a FCCA complaint. Cingular will probably turn the account over to the next collection agency, and you just repeat that routine. In the meantime, you can gather enough momentum to drag them into a PR stand-off -- that, along with the BBB complaint should get your account settled quickly.

You're basically playing them at their own game. GOOD LUCK!

    Good advice Muwap... thanks

That makes sense muwap... and I appreciate the sound advice. In fact... I've been so *outta whack* angry for about a month now over this RipOff... it's been hard to do anything but VENT!

But your take on this make sense, and I would tell anythat just read your post to pay close attention to this method for dealing with ANY creditor or collections agency.

However... for my situation... I was so jammed up about the negative listing... that I went ahead and payed their extortion amount. BUT not before I got a signed agreement IN WRITING from them that they would do the *full deletion* regarding the derogatory trade-line listing on my credit file once I paid the account

Oh well... I'd better get back to work. I'm working overtime this week to make up for the $1000 they stole!
