I remember a while back that pre-paid Trackfone service ran on Verizon's network. But recently, I was told that they have switched over to Cingular. Is this true? and does anyone know when this happened?

Verizon and Cingular use two completely different technologies. Cingular is GSM (TDMA) and Verizon is CDMA. When I saw TrackFone at Target it was a black motorola phone that one of my friends with Verizon used to have. So TrackFone uses Verizon's network.

That may not be completly true. TracPhone does use Cingular as a pre-paid provider. Until just last month all Cingular Pre Paid phones were TDMA. Cingular was finally able to sell GSM pre-paid billing last month. You may see GSM phones from Tracphone soon.
