I have heard that if you accidentaly broke your phone and you have AT&T, you can apply for phone insurance, wait a month, then apply for a new phone and list a good cause for it. You only pay $5 the next month and a new phone. You can also cancel the insurance then as well.

    Is this really true?

I'm not completely familiar with AT&T policies. I know that Cingular won't allow customers to add insurance to an account after 30 days of purchasing the phone.

But what you are suggesting is FRAUD. That right there is why cell phone companies have to enact policies like Cingular's.

when you apply the insurance to the account, we call the device itself. If you want to replace it through insurance, the serial number on the account must match the device you want to replace. When you call the insurance company (Lockline) they check the accnt to see if there has been anything fishy.
