    Hey,

I just bought a Motorola v80 off of eBay. I got it to replace my v400 (with Cingular) because the old one fell in the toilet.

The thing is... I actually ordered a v690, which specifically said it was unlocked.. they were out (the company is CellMall, [email protected]) and they offered me the v80 instead.

It came yesterday and I popped my SIM card in and nothing happened. I can't get it to pick up a signal. Does this mean that the phone is locked? If so, how can I check? ...and how do I go about unlocking the phone?

    Thanks,
    Danny

it might be that the v80 does not have the bands that cingular uses in your area. Cingular tends to use the 850/1900 bands, so make sure the phone has those, and then u should check cingulars coverage map in case one of those isnt there.

The phone doesn't have 850 before the 1900. It only has 1900, 900/1800.

    That's probably the problem, eh?
