I have had a Nokia 3650 and am currently looking for a new phone to purchase with better coverage. I live in Minnesota, in the Twin Cities. There are quite a few spots when my coverage just drops down to 1 or 2 bars. I travel alot for work to other states. Is there any phone that anyone would suggest for better coverage? I am with AT&T Wireless/Cingular through work so I can not switch providers.

    Thanks,

    Benjamin

P.S. Would I be better to buy a phone straight from At&t Wireless/Cingular or from somewhere else? (ebay)

    Welcome to the boards

Cingular Blue is one of the weakest providers in that area.

    My suggestion Nokia 6620

Other people who deal with Cingular might help you out more.

Cingular will probably give you a discount on a new phone. I recommend ebay if:
A you don't want to be on contract
B You need a new phone and don't qualify for a discount yet
C You want a certain model that has been discontinued
If you buy a phone off of ebay. You will need to make sure it is not lost or stolen and it does GSM on Cellular band (850) and GSM on PCS band (1900). I don't know if the phone has to be from AT&T or Cingular. If you can service a phone that was on Dobson (Cellular One) then you will need to make sure it is unlocked.

have any more question feel free to let us know.

The best provider gives you a plan with the minutes you need at the right price. The coverage that you need to make calls all the time.

    I agree with agentHibby:

"you don't want to be on contract"

Check out other companies in your area... I was an ATT&T customer for the last 6 years, after the merger I've had nothing but problems. I went from one or two drop areas to what seems like every time I turn the corner. Not to mention their customer service sucks.

Oh yeah, don't buy the Nokia 6230. I'm on my 2nd 6230 (in two months) and now this one has gone bad too.

Well I am going to stick with Cingular, even when my wife complains about how I have to use her phone sometimes when we are out. I think it is more of the phone then anything for my troubles. It seems to be really buggy, I got it when the 3650 first came out. It tells me apps are being closed and shuts off at random times.

I was looking into getting a Motorola Razor, I was talking to my brother who just swichted phones and the guy at Cingular told him that the Razors break eazily. Has this been a problem across the board? I dont mistreat my gear for the most part, because I do not like to trash things I have spent my money on.

Is the Quad band or Tri band the way to go? The wife has Tri band and just seems to have more service and/or stronger service.
