Nights start at 9PM. The only exception would be if you have the 7-7 Feature. If you are paying $7.00 more a month you're nights start at 7PM.

I wouldn't say that. Sure, Sprint may start their Nights and weekends earlier, but their coverage area is one of the worst of all carriers, they dont offer rollover, and have the worst customer service according to surveys.

I'll take my nights at 9 and stick with Cingular.

With rollover you're paying too much for minutes you don't use.

Wth a flexible plan, it adds extra minutes cheaply when you need them (100 min for $5 -- i.e. 5 cents a min) and doesn't charge you for extra minutes when you don't need them; and never hits you with 30-50 cents per minute for going over.

I agree in part. But smart Cingular users know that you build up a lot of rollover minutes and then drop your plan to something lower which will save you money. The biggest advantage Cingular has over Sprint is their much larger coverage area.

I'm not trying to get into a big debate about who is better because that's not the intention of the OP.

No harm in broadening the discussion. It would have been a pretty short thread if only the OP's question got an answer. We can discuss and compare without a problem.

Two questions I have about the strategy of building up rollover minutes and then changing the plan to a lower one:

    1. When you change your plan, as you describe, does that obligate you to begin your 2 year agreement starting all over at that point? If so, that might not be a real attractive option for some.

    2. The rollover minutes don't stay around forever, dropping off after 12 months, I think; so if you consistently use under your allotted minutes (thus building up rollover) wouldn't it have been cheaper to go with a smaller plan to begin with, rather than pay for something you're not going to use?

Seems like it to me, anyhow. But I would be interested in finding an answer to that. Thanks muchos.

Cingular would prefer to have you sign another agreement, but it generally is not required. The first half of your contract you can change your plan without an extention, after the second half you're supposed to agree to an new extension. However there is an easy way around that. If you call cust. service they will make you extend it, if you go into an authorized agent, you won't be required. That's because of the difference in systems they use.

The answer to number 2 would depend on the user. Some would find Sprint more econoical, others would say Cingular is the better deal.

While Sprint gives you more mintues, I still think when you consider the following factors Cingular is the better choice: Coverage Area, Mobile to Mobile Calling, and Customer Service.

Let's not forget that while a carrier may have a well built out network in your particular area, that's not always the case if you go to a different state, city, region etc. While Cingular or Sprint may have great coverage in your area, it will not be the same story for the next user in a different region, so as usual the best carrier will be the one that works the best for you in your area....just my 2.

There you go, and in my case so far customer service has been good with both carriers.
