    Help.

I'd like to get a GSM phone to take advantage of the many features I don't have with my digital phone. However, we are moving to the country and I found quite accidentally that GSM coverage is essentially none existent where we are moving. I was out at the place with 3 friends and none of their GSM phones would get more than one bar and none of them could dial out. My digital phone works flawlessly.

I'm seeking options. I've heard about GAIT, but the only phones I see have to be bought from a 3rd party such as through eBay. Will cingular activate these phones or is this even a reasonable option?

    Suggestions?

    Thx,
    Ron

YES! I bought a Sony Ericsson T62u on eBay and Cingular activated it for me. If you already have a SIM card all you have to do is plug it in. If not, they'll give you one for a small fee ($10 i believe)

These phones allow you to pick up GSM,TDMA, and AMPS so you'll almost NEVER have no signal. (I have never had no signal yet)

first of all what country are you moving? if you have a gsm phone and moving to europe or asia make sure that your phone is tri-band 900mhz, 1800mhz, 1900mhz. 900 use in asia. 1800 use in europe. 1900 use in canada and u.s. if you have single band phone 1900mhz (u.s) and your going to asia or europe your not gonna get any signal. nokia gait is still 1900mhz it only work on gsm u.s and cdma u.s. get tri-band phone and make sure your getting is 900,1800,1900 not 850,1800,1900. gsm network is what the world is using now except to japan they use wcdma and korea they use cdma.

I believe that by "country" he meant a rural area in the U.S.
