I purchased an unlocked Motorola V500 to use with my existing Sim card. When I turn the phone on, it searches for service, finds none, and goes into "Emergency Only" mode. If I go to Network settings and "View Networks", the phone finds Cingular, AT&T Wireless, and sometimes T-Mobile.
If I try to connect to Cingular, it won't register and goes back to Emergency Only mode. But, if I try to register with AT&T, it is successful and I can place and receive calls. My old phone (Nokia 3100, which I damaged by running it through the wash) connected with "Cingular" as the network name and had no problem with failing to connect Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks...
