from verizon. the reason is far from my moral obligations simply because i want to switch plans to get the new razr phone. i told myself i would never do that but the phone is just too damn cool.
anyway, i see alot of negatve comments about the cingular service here and i was just wondering if that was the overall feeling or is it just that people that like their cingular service just aren't chimming in.
i am located in new york but travel alot to connecticut and long island so that would be my range of calls.

    thanks in advance.

Even with all the service problems... you just call back and get someone who knows what they're talking about and they take care of it right away. The people who get pissed at service are the ones that stay on the phone with the rep that's reading them the user manual... just hang up and call back you'll have save a lot of headaches.

That said I've only needed CS once or twice, and they were pretty harmless experiences. A short delay on one call (3-4 minutes), but not too bad.

Been with them since they were Cellular One....
Except for one piece of junk LG phone...it's all been good.
No problems with billing or coverage.
Their web site sucks though...and the phone customer service isn't much better.
I have my best luck going to one their stores and fiinding someone who knows something. Someone I can talk to in person.

I would stay away from the Razr phone. I've heard how that thing breaks non-stop. The keypad is very thin... that breaks all the time. My stepdaughter knew a lot of people who had to replace the Razr all the time. I'd look around ask questions about that phone.

    Its not Cingulars fault

Cingular is great and all but GSM in some area’s just cant compete with the older technology of CDMA. Esp. if your by mountain structures. Verizon Promo isnt ( reliable for nothing )

Just remember you have 30 days on the contract and you have 3 days you can get out without paying the 18/36 activation fee just minutes of use. I actually seen Cingular not bother charging customer for that either. So take the phone home give it a try and then if your not happy with it bring it back and cancel your contract and go back to who you have. You wont know if its good for you until you try it you can think about it all you want but really some phones just dont work in some area’s.

Other info that might help you decide which one to choose.

Cingular Best promo 7 –7. There give you great pricing, same as verizon, but allow you to start you minutes from 7 – 7 for only an extra 7. For some people that saves them as much as 13 a month by keeping them on a small plan. They also tec. right know have the most customers * Verizon is expected to catch up/ beat them by Feb – May 06 *

Rollover minutes are great but there a gimmick, chances are if you have enough minutes that you can roll them over month to month your paying to much for your plan. Studies show most people use the same amount of minutes * give or take 50* every month after the first 2 months of having a cell phone.

If you do switch Cingular Intelligences market promos, will allow you to switch your plan as long as you stay in the same promotion without out extending your contract within half of your contract length. And since your minutes are yours to keep for one year, assuming you dont miss/ are late on a payment or do anything else name change, market change extra you can bulk your minutes and then drop to a lower plan without extending your contract.
I am not sure if Care ( cingular west cost market has the same promo)

So basically say your paying 59.99 for 900 minutes but you only using 500 minutes.
At the end of your first year you bulk more minutes then you ever need just give cingular a call and have them drop your plan to the 39.99 450.

Also Cingular does not allow you to place any insurance on the Razor phone so if you get it make sure your careful with it or get it from a third party store such as Bestbuy or Wizards I think BJ’s where you can places a service plan on it that also cover the battery of the phone and thus you can get a new battery for your phone once a year for the extension of your contract.
