I am getting ready to move to Cingular and was wondering what phone is the best for reception?
A loud ringer and speaker would be a plus also. If it has the camera and all the fancy gadgets it would be ok but not a necessity.
If a phone with good reception doesn’t exist, can they be boosted?
I heard the Razor had decent reception but the vibrator was useless. Bluetooth would be nice also.
I work in a noisy environment, so the louder the better!
    Thanks for your time.

The V551 is a nice clamshell phone, Loud, Good Vib, Camera and is Bluetooth. I would still have mine if I did'nt try the Treo....

try phonescoop.com. They have a nifty phone search tool that lets you choose which features you need, and which ones you want. Best reception you want a phone that does both 850Mhz and 1900Mhz if you're in the US.

Thanks for the help Tstright and Brian from what I have seen of the V551 I liked but wasn’t sure of the reception. Is it 850 & 1900Mhz.?
I will check out Phonescoop. I am in SW Missouri and my contract with US Cellular is up today. In my area it’s hard to beat US Cellular but have a lot of contacts that use Cingular.
    Thanks a lot!

Well I just thought I would tell you what phone I ended up with.
I bought the V551 it has a good vibrator, loud ringer, (especially on the siren) but it would drop calls in the plant where I work around all the electrical switchgear.

I traded it for the Razor, and I just couldn't hear it very well and the vibrator is useless carrying it in my belt holder, its reception did beat the V551 hands down though.

I then traded it for a Nokia 6102; it has the best reception out of the three by far!
It needs a better ring tone like the siren Motorola has, but I can hear it good enough.
The vibrator is about like the Razor.

I’m not really into all the gadgets on the cell phones but it’s pictures are a lot better than the Motorola’s. If the 6102 had Bluetooth and a louder ring tone it would be the perfect phone in my books.
If you want a phone that gets great reception, Nokia 6102 is the clear winner.

do you trust LG products? my c1300 is not a good phone. i've heard complaints from other carriers' customers about LG. i also heard they have SIM card reading issues. that's a lot of hear/say but there could be truth behind it.

I certainly trust LG products. I have a LG6000 now with Verizon and I am hoping to have a 9800 of my own soon. I have not had any problems with the 6000. One of the reasons I asked about the CE500 is b/c my mother uses Cingular and I am thinking this may be a good xmas present for her. I like the idea of buying a LG again.

If I had stayed with US Cellular or switched to Verizon I would have gotten the LG 6100 most likely. I’m not impressed with the LG’s that the Cingular stores have around here though.

I love mine too and I have put the phone through the ringer and is sill ticking. I believe I am eligiable for an upgrade now, so I am thinking the top of the line 9800 makes sense seeing as I get a discount. Plus, the 9800 puts my 6000 to shame.

well i'm glad you guys found a reliable cell manufacturer. i'm not too crazy about my lg, of course, it is one of their lower tier phones.

lg also acknowledged their sim problems in an email to me. so i'm just a little leary about the phones in general.
